As an old timer and broadcast engineer from the 1960s to today, designing and building18 full powered FM and AM stations, I'm glad to see you guys keeping the museum. I would like to make one request. Has anyone there in the museum contacted the Lynchburg Virginia Museum, to get documented info concerning Dr. ( Dentist ) Mahlon Loomis, who demonstrated the first known wireless in the mid 1800s, from 2 mountaintop locations 14 miles apart, before Marconi was even born? Loomis held several patents including the one covering the wireless. He had a working relationship with the US Navy and they were working out details to advance the designs, but then a big depression hit and everyone forgot about it. Dr.Loomis died broke at his brother's residence, but he made a closing statement that can still be read in that museum, where he predicts the advancement of wireless communication far into the future. He predicted what Marconi and professor Hertz proved to be possible. Bill K5EYS
Wow! 43.7K subscribers with 291 videos. I think I should learn a lot from you! 73 de Jon, VU2JO
No Kenwood cable?
So 1/4 of Radio Luxembourg's 2 MW then. 🙂
Amazing for its age, Zenith the quality goes in before the name goes on!
Still love to watch this Video over and over again after so many Years. It helped me a lot to make my Decision to buy the right Radio for HAMventions outdoor. And I still run my IC-7200 with Pride. 73 de Your Friend Uncle Günter 💯🙋♂
Because they used to let young people bectte adults they were!
Hey Randy, watching parts 8 and 9 again, waiting on UPS to deliver my Navassa 5 antenna today. Videos really help understand the process. Many thanks and will post how it goes later.

RANDALL what antenna tuner are you using
Mercury tuner
Great job. I don't have the components any more. Just have to buy a ready made sampler

Thank you. I have two used vertical HF antennas that I am testing and they both did not show a resonate frequency, new installation for me. I think they are both bad. I will be replacing one and rechecking. My father was a ham radio operator W5OQA in Grove Okla. He hand made his QSL cards, do you have one. He is a silent key now and I would like to have on of his cards.
I checked my cards, and I don't have one from your dad. What band(s) is the vertical for?
A wonderful person, I enjoyed meeting and talking with her for a while
Thank you

Unsubscribed. Stickers installed crooked. Its like flashing lights for an epileptic, except its for OCD. Except, I have the more severe form... CDO, which is where the letters have to be alphabetized. ROFL
The first time I met Bob was at his theatre organ concert at the CA Auto museum in Old Sacramento. Of course I was there with you, Gordon, Bob, and Leo in Petaluma for their Grand Opening. Bob was always kind and giving to everyone. He will be sorely missed......Rest In Peace my friend until we meet again.......Russell D.
Needed to see an antenna set-up on an RV. Already have, a pass-through hole made for an extension cord and the coax can share it. Should be able to mount the antenna on the ladder and drop a ground from there (have no stinky slinky storage bumper). Since I'm stationary, this should work fine. Thanks for your video! 73s
Hi Randy, I'm Luca Bronzi Iz6hpj, I've now seen the video introducing the hellschreiber, excellent video... I assure you that I cut the paper with a saw!!!😂😂😂 I didn't have the right size and I had to make do... '73 viva hellschreiber!!
Very good video! Many thanks! 73 KI5KET
Little did we know that Mr. Crosley had plans for a 1.21 gigawatt transmitter an increase by three orders of magnitude....he would have to contract with one Mr Doc Brown from California.
Did you pay for the vera license? That is so much faster when i use it over hf. Im still trialing it. I also noticed my downlink volume is always in the red. I assume I am over driving it?
Yes. I paid for it.
Things of this nature before modern equipment , was a source for stories of Braces talking from the mouth , radios playing while unplugged ect. Some older equipment will still do this at certain conditions. My father in law played guitar in local country bands , still had a couple old amps. We had goofed around with em earlier then slid em behind the recliner I was in. We were watching tv and I kept hearing people talk off and on , looked around baffled , it went away. It came back louder and thats when I narrowed it down to the amps with a station coming in through them just fine . Finaly put em back in closet after while.
My condolences.
Thanks for the video Randy!
This was the best video yet on this. I had problems buying cheep imitations on Amazon. Thanks
Magnifique merci pour la visite 😊 73 a vous
Grat to hear that your first time to osh was by flying into chicago and renting an rv from there.. that's exactly what i have booked now and am looking forward to doing for my first osh experience 🙂
Thank you for making a great video. I have had my licence less than a year. Have been taking full advantage of 10 meter, but wanting to learn and try out 6. Have to study so i can get my general and use hf bands.
Nice tribute Randy. Bob was a heck of an engineer and Marketer. RIP
RIP Bob. Glad to have had the chance to hear him speak a few times. Always an entertaining and educational man to listen to.
Thank you for this video. Brand new ham here!
Very nice, Randy. I met Bob once at a NAB show, 2014 if I recall.
Very nice tribute
Back in Circa 2018, I was captaining a flight from Sydney, Australia back to Los Angelas. It was Saturday evening in the states and time for the Bob Heil Organ Show on TWIT. I used the extra HF radio in my 777 and tuned it in. I listened to Bob from 35,000 feet over Christmas Island.
So cool
As soon as I heard of Bob’s passing, I was shocked. All I could think to do was turn on my radio, grab a key, and start sending his call. I wanted to keep his call on the air.
Awesome video... Windsor Ontario Canada
There’s a hole in the audio universe tonight, Randy.😂
He's not in my log alas, but he will always be in my heart.
Bob Heil and his bunch has been such a positive influence on my own ham radio skill building and knowledge over the years. Loved and appreciated. RIP SK, de w0vet
A very nice rendition there Randy.thanks for taking the time to respect. All the best Simon VA3SII G7HCD
Thank you Randy. Ai6lz
I had a Heil PR-781 and compared it to a $3 web cam mike. The Heil came out slightly ahead. But the 781 looked prettier.
A great guy.
Hi Randy. Hope Gold Beach is treating you well. I’ve been ill myself lately, but we just about have that nailed down with my headaches. My ID52A is broken beyond repair, so no DSTAR for me unfortunately for right now.
What genius, enthusiasm, genuine guy Bob is, will live forever in my memory.
A beautiful tribute, RIP Dr Bob, and 73
